Founder & CEO
Justin Lowe is the founder of the Avenir Investment Group, a multi-family partnership with a focus on wealth management, asset management, capital markets and family advisory services.
Justin has been involved with alternative investments for over 20 years. He started investing in hedge funds in 1999 and later co-founded Reliance Management, a leading fund of funds manager. The flagship Reliance Multi Adviser Fund was known as having one of the best sharpe ratios in the industry. In 2010, he co-founded Pan Reliance Capital Advisors which became the advisor to the Reliance funds. Pan Reliance won a number of awards, including Sustained Excellence in Funds of Hedge Funds Management in 2014 and Fund of Hedge Funds Adviser of the year in 2013 and 2017. In 2018, Justin successfully exited the business and focused on building the Avenir Investment Group.
Prior to Reliance, Justin worked at Broadview International – now Jefferies, a venture and investment Banking Firm focused on the IT industry, where he focused transactions in the TMT space. Justin started his career as a consultant for Bain & Company where he served in the Geneva, Paris, London and Munich offices and was assigned to Bain Capital projects.
Justin has served on multiple investment boards. From 2016 to 2018 he was a Director of Samarang Asset Management SA, a Luxembourg UCITS management company. From 2017-2019 Justin also served on the Board of Octogone North America, part of the Octogone Group, a private client advisory group with $4 billion of assets based in Geneva Switzerland.
He also serves as a Director of Cloudbreak Holdings, a precious and base metals mining company active in 14 locations worldwide. In that capacity he manages the firm’s government relationships. He is also a Director of Mauritius-based Goodlands Investment Management Ltd an FSC regulated investment manager.
He is also a senior advisor to the Fit for Life Foundation. The Fit for Life Foundation, founded by the Lowe Family, supports healthy aging and independent mobility of people in aging societies worldwide by supporting innovative projects and building global awareness. He is also a Board Member of the Surfrider Foundation, Miami Chapter, a non-profit focused on clean oceans.
Justin received an MBA from Columbia University School of Business and a B. Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics.
He was raised in Japan, the United States, Portugal, France and Switzerland. In addition to English, he speaks fluent French, Spanish and German. He is the great grandson of Robert Hallowell Gardiner IV, the founder of the Fiduciary Trust Company in Boston in 1928, a trust bank created as a successor to his Family Office. He is also the descendant of Adrien Lachenal, elected President of the Swiss Confederation in 1896.
